Our First District Contest

posted Oct 9, 2009 11:34 AM by Adam Porter

We had a fantastic time with our families in Lancaster for our first District quartet contest.  We finished 5th out of 24 quartets with 2700 points (a 75.0 average) and got to premiere Drop Me Off In Harlem!  (Congratulations to 'Round Midnight on your District Championship!)  We send special thanks out to our fantastic coach Harriette Walters (Go a.k.a. and GNC!) and our friend Scott Disney for walking us through both rounds of the contest (you were great Scott!)  We look forward to getting to work on a bunch of new music and performing on 4 upcoming shows (Montclair, Cape May, Greater Nassau, and Voices of Gotham.)  Thanks to all our friends and fans for your encouragement.  We love you!

We had a GREAT time at Harmony College East this past weekend in Salisbury, MD.  We send huge thanks to our coaches Jim Coates, David Harrington, Rik Johnson, Steve Delehanty, and Al Baker.  We loved the things you taught us and will be putting them to work to make us better.  Special thanks also to Stevie D and Don Gray from Adam for your encouragement and support on the music development.

PS to Al Baker:  Merv says hi.

Hudson Chronicles had a great weekend May 15-16 taking 1st place of 21 quartets in its first contest.  We scored a 77.5 overall.  The quartet sends warm & grateful thanks to our families and friends (including our fantastic coach Harriette Walters!) and the other quartets & choruses that cheered us on and were so supportive and happy for us.

Neil and Adam also competed in the chorus contest with Hell's Kitchen, NY's Voices of Gotham (singing out of division) and helped them to their best finish ever (78.3 overall.)  Ritchie directed his Princeton, NJ Garden Statesmen to a standing ovation and strong finish to within 14 points of 1st place.

We look forward to June performances on Princeton, NJ (with our friends Hepcat Social Club and Our Town) & Montclair, NJ shows and at Harmony College East, and hope to add new music soon.  Please watch our calendar for other dates.
